k20 Kindness Without Borders Kindness in Action — Award Application The Inaugural k20 Kindness Without Borders Summit brought together global leaders, practitioners, and changemakers committed to advancing empathy, compassion, and kindness as a practical, scalable force for social, organisational, and community transformation. The Kindness Without Borders Award is awarded by Dr. Silvia Casabianca, who funded the launching and initial implementation of our summit’s host, The Roots of Compassion and Kindness (ROCK),— now an established center at Florida Gulf Coast University, directed by Dr. Maria Roca. This $2,000 award supports innovative, values-driven projects that demonstrate how kindness can cross borders — geographic, cultural, organisational, and social. We are seeking ideas that are practical, measurable, and capable of inspiring wider adoption. To participate, please answer each section in less than the word count indicated/per item.
1. Who are we? — Background and identity – max 100 words Describe your organisation, group, or collective. Where are you based? Who is involved? What is your background and experience? What values shape your work? What brought you together?
2. Where have we come from? — Context and journey – max 100 words Outline your journey to this point. What challenges or opportunities led here? What prior work informs this? What evidence shows readiness? What sparked the idea?
3. Why? — Purpose and ambition – max 100 words Explain your purpose. What problem are you addressing? Why now? What change do you seek? Who benefits? Include how you will measure impact and success.
4. What? — The action and delivery – max 220 words Describe what you will do. What activities are involved? Where and with whom? What are the milestones and outputs? Be specific and practical.
5. How? — Style, values, and approach – max 100 words Explain how you will deliver. What values guide you? How is kindness embedded? What is your delivery style? How will inclusion and integrity be ensured?
6. Measurement of impact – max 100 words How will you measure success? What indicators will you track? How will feedback and stories be gathered? What does success look like at 3, 6, and 12 months?
7. How is this different? – max 100 words What makes your initiative distinctive? How is it different from existing approaches? What is innovative or scalable? What is the core insight?
8. Capacity – max 100 words Who is in your team? What skills and resources exist? What gaps remain and how will you address them? Why are you well placed to deliver?
9. Scalability and future vision – max 100 words Can this be scaled or replicated? What does expansion look like? How will learning be shared? What is your long-term vision of possibility?
